Kymber Miller, Class of 2020

Hello, my name is Kymber Miller, and I was a student in the CTE Digital Photography program at Combs High School from 2017 to 2020. During the 2018–2019 academic year, I earned my Adobe Photoshop certification and graduated with an extensive digital photography portfolio. This program was the spark that ignited my passion for photography.

As a child, I had a mild interest in photography, but it wasn’t until I joined the Digital Photography program at Combs that I began to see it as more than just a hobby. The course is thoughtfully designed to support both casual learners and those, like me, who aspire to pursue photography professionally. I truly believe I wouldn’t be where I am today without the foundation and inspiration I received from the CTE program. This program even gave me the ability to expand my skills and portfolio outside of the classroom for other programs in the Combs High School community, such as the Combs Drama program and the EPOCH staff for the 2019-2020 Yearbook.

After graduating, I took a gap year during which I completed a short internship photographing local sports teams and took on freelance photography work. Those experiences continually reinforced my desire to return to school and explore the full potential of a professional photography career. Without the CTE Digital Photography program at Combs, I might have ended up in a job that neither excited nor fulfilled me.

Now I'm studying Commercial Photography and Videography as a Barrett Honors Student at Arizona State University. I have two officer positions for a beginner photography club and an advanced digital portfolio club. I also have won scholarship money and awards for my photography work at Arizona State University, both within and outside my major.

I will be graduating from ASU with a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Graphic Information Technology with an emphasis in Commercial Photography & Videography and a Certificate in Sales & Marketing Essentials at the end of this year (December 2025).
