Jen Hamilton, Class of 2025

As I get ready for my freshman year at ASU, I am excited to share that I was selected as a reporter and photographer for The State Press, something that, without the knowledge and skillset I gained from the Graphic Design program, I wouldn't have achieved.
Plus, I am currently in the interviewing process for a Graphic Design and Social Media Internship with Oracle Strategies, a liberal political company based in Phoenix.
Graphics were always something I enjoyed, but never something I thought I would utilize in my career. I would always make thumbnails for some friends when we all had our YouTuber phases, but not much beyond that. I joined the Graphic Design program simply because I had no room in my schedule for a different class.
After the first year, though, I discovered I enjoyed the concept of graphic design and continued to the second and third years of the program. Mr. Schreel's teaching of the course especially helped with letting me find my passion for design, as he really made sure we mostly did projects rather than listen to lectures and do boring assignments.
I wouldn't be anywhere near where I am right now with out the Graphic Design program.
I wouldn't have been able to really see that doing graphics and visuals is really fun to me, and I would never have been given the opportunity to get certified in four Adobe programs. The program lit up a light for me that I wouldn't have otherwise been able to see without it.
CTE itself is such an incredible opportunity for students to learn more in-depth about different career fields, and I think it's what lets students get so far right after they’re out of high school.

Design and photography on the magazine spread all done by Jen Hamilton.
