Nursing Assistant
Interested in a profession in the health field? First year students learn how to care for diverse populations by assisting the healthcare team with patient activities of daily living to include feeding, bathing, dressing, admission/discharge, basic vital signs, etc. while also adhering to patient rights, ethical, legal, infection prevention, and professional skills. In year two you will deep dive into medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, CPR, and visit local healthcare facilities as a professional for clinical learning experiences. Second year students will also expound on year one knowledge and apply it to direct patient care, nutrition, safety, postmortem, rehab services, and preparing for their future career.
Students who successfully complete the program and pass the Arizona Board of Nursing exam obtain their CNA license before high school graduation and are eligible to apply for their LNA license. Second year students earn college credit through dual enrollment with Central Arizona College.
