I am currently working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at a Banner Health hospital on an observation unit.
I am, at this time, completing my last prerequisite in the fall and preparing to take my HESI at MCC to get accepted into the nursing program.
Going through the Nursing Assistant program helped me get my role in my current job and gave me experience before going into the field.
After graduating, I got a job at a nursing and rehabilitation center, where I stayed for a year to gain experience before transitioning into the hospital setting.
I have always been interested in nursing because of my Nana, and I wanted to follow in her footsteps. That’s why I chose the program, and I fell in love with helping others and learning new things every day.
I think that my journey to becoming a CNA and getting started in the career would have been more challenging if I had not had the opportunity to be in the program offered at Combs High School.
I believe the CTE program helped me get my career started after high school and taught me many workforce and professional skills that I still use every day.
