Sports medicine was something that sparked my interest. I was starting sports at the time, and wanted to learn more about injury prevention, anatomy, and also the rehab and hands-on aspect of sports medicine.
And, having the class on campus was extremely beneficial for me. I was able to still do sports, get to know my fellow students who could one day be someone I work with as an assistant to our athletic trainer, and I was able to be more involved in school events during and events that took place after school.
Sports Medicine was extremely beneficial for me in life, but especially in the workforce. With the first aid knowledge that was given by my amazing sports medicine teacher at Combs, I was able to help several people. I work with children who are typical and some who have special needs, and at times when an accident or injury occurs, I can respond level-headed and use the tools that were taught to me. I personally have been able to help 3 children who have had serious injuries and help them with the knowledge I was given.
